Special Board Meeting brought to order at 10:30 A.M. at Rick’s
1. Tree Spraying – Due to the large number of Spring Canker worms in
Radiance and the overwhelming member support for spraying, the Board
voted to contract with Davey Tree Service to spray BT on all trees
ASAP. They cannot spray if it is raining or there are high winds.
After a walk-through last Thursday, they have given the POA a bid of
$3,600 – $4,500 to spray the whole community. Two property owners
have decided not to spray, Akers and McDonalds. BT was chosen over
Spinocad, the chemical suggested by Davey, because after conferring
with John Dromgule of Natural Gardener, it was decided that Spinocad
would kill all insects. It was decided that BT would be effective
without harming beneficial insects. Davey will return to re-spray at
no additional cost if worms are still spotted 5 – 7 days after
treatment. Davey has agreed verbally (and will in writing) to use
only BT and rinse the tanks to remove any toxic residue before
spraying in Radiance. Each homeowner will be billed according to how
many gallons are sprayed on their lot using a map. Average cost is
estimated at $150 per lot. Treatment of common areas, (dome, road
easements, Crystal and Royal Garden homes, septic fields, and pool)
which make up approximately 1/2 of the area, will be paid for by the
RPOA (approx. $2,250 max.). Pets and children will need to be kept
off during spraying and until the area is dry. Mary will email Davey
and notify all community members of the upcoming spraying.
2. Community Mailbox replacement – The Board voted to offer the
contract to Adrian Scatton to do the work as bid, adjusting materials
and design according to Troy’s suggestions with a ceiling on labor
such that total cost cannot exceed $500.
Meeting adjourned at 11:50 P.M.
