Dr. K.S Vaishali Srinivas, Vocal

Dr. K.S Vaishali is an eminent Hindustani Classical Vocalist and an Associate Professor at the Department of English Studies, Bangalore University, India. A disciple of the legendary vocalist Pandita Kishori Amonkar and Harmonium maestro Pundit Sheshadri Gawai, music critics from leading dailies, Indian Express, The Hindu, and the Times of India have variously acknowledged her as a “Rising Star”, a vocalist who left them overwhelmed by a rich and melodious voice, deep in fervor, negotiating bravura passages with commendable ease encompassing all 3 octaves even in difficult “taans”. Dr. Vaishali has give numerous recitals all over India and abroad enthralling connoisseurs of Indian music in UK, USA, Canada, Singapore and the Middle East, Dr. Vaishali is on her 2nd concert tour of the US. Her most recent recitals have been in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, San Francisco, Houston and Toronto.

Dr. Vaishali is highly esteemed in her scholarly presentations on facets of Indian Classical music in addition to demonstrating a vast repertoire of Khayals, Bhajans, Thumris, Ghazals and Golden Hits originating from Hindustani Classical ragas. She is a music critic for the Hindu, a national newspaper and has 3 vocal albums of classical music to her credit.

Shankar Bhattacharyya, Sarod

Shankar Bhattacharyya has been a disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan since 1974. He continues to learn from the late Ustad’s great music and believes that this musical system is the gateway to spritual growth and empowerment. Shankar has played in concerts in India, UK, Switzerland, France, Brazil and in the US. He is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Texas A & M University and also the Faculty Advisor to SPICMACAY, the Indian Classical Music Society

Amit Bhagwat, Tabla

Amit was born in a musical family in Mumbai. His mother Vandana Bhagwat is a well known Hindustani classical vocalist & is one of the senior students of Late Pt. Nivruttibuva Sarnaik of Jaipur Gharana.

Amit started learning the art of Tabla at age of six under the able guidance of Late Pt. Vishnu Aloni & Sri Shantanu Panshikar (one of the finest disciples of Pt. Suresh Talwalkar). Amit is currently under tutelage of tabla maestros Sri Umesh Moghe and Sri Gourisankar Karmaker.

A traditional musical environment being available at home and the guidance and blessings of his gurus have helped him to develop himself as a good tabla accompanist and solo player.

By profession Amit is a Software Engineer.
